Truffles in San Francisco

It’s that time of the year again – truffle season, where the expensive delicacy is showcased around the Bay Area. Here are some spots to indulge:

Poggio - Chef Peter McNee just returned from a trip to Italy where he was scouring the markets for Alba truffle. He’s brought some back and the Sausalito restaurant will be serving them from November 9-17. The truffles will be served tableside or in one of a handful of special dishes McNee has created. Poggio is located at 777 Bridgeway in Sausalito.

Perbacco – In what has become an annual celebration, Perbacco and chef Staffan Terje are once again offering white truffles sourced from Italy. The restaurant’s dedicated menu aims at showcasing truffles at their best, with each dish served with white truffles shaved tableside. The menu has just recently launched and will be available for as long as supplies last. Perbacco is located at 230 California Street in San Francisco.

Oliveto – Executive Chef Jonah Rhodehamel and his team are offering four nights of celebrating the truffle. From November 13-16, the restaurant will be featuring an a la carte menu showcasing the best Italian truffles. Owner Bob Klein takes a trip to Tuscany each year for an annual truffle hunt. All dishes will be priced a la carte. Oliveto is located at 5655 College Avenue in Oakland.

Delfina – Delfina is not only celebrating its anniversary in November, but also the truffle season. Each year, the restaurant procures Piemontese white truffles to accompany with an a la carte menu showcasing dishes and ingredients of the region. The truffles are an optional addition to each menu item. Delfina celebrates its anniversary on November 19 and truffle dishes will also be available through November 21. Delfina is located at 3621 18th Street in San Francisco.
