COI Restaurant, one of a very few two-Michelin-star restaurants in the Bay Area, will be welcoming two famed international chefs to its kitchen to join Chef/owner Daniel Patterson for two evenings of special dining.

On September 28, Chef Josean Alija of Nerua at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain will join Chef Patterson to prepare a dinner in line with Alija’s minimalist style. The secret eight-course menu will emphasize “essential ingredients in an exercise of simplicity,” combining unusual textures, flavors and aromas. Chef Alija was awarded the Chef du Prix de L’Avenir 2011 (“Chef of the Future”) by The International Academy of Gastronomy. His eight-course menu will be offered at $165, with wine pairings available for an additional $105.

On October 20, Chef Magnus Nilsson of Fäviken Magasinet restaurant in Sweden will be visiting to prepare a special tasting menu in honor of his first cookbook, Fäviken. Chef Nilsson is a rising star who grows almost all of the ingredients for Fäviken Magasinet on the remote 20,000-acre farm where the restaurant is located. The restaurant is now ranked one of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World. Chef Nilsson’s eight-course meal will be offered at $250, which includes a signed copy of Fäviken. Wine pairings will be available for an additional $105.

Reservations for either dinner can be made by calling COI at 415.393.9000.
